ITINERARY...
This is not a knitting trip...it's not a trip for crocheters. All stitchers will enjoy equal time devoted to their favorite craft. Instead of focusing on our differences it's a time to weave together our similar threads. This weekend was designed as a get-away to beat the winter blues. It's a break from reality for yarn lovers to get together, meet new friends, share ideas and learn new tips and techniques while enjoying lots of fun....

THURSDAY MARCH 22
Group members will be flying to Cancun and getting settled into Dreams Cancun Resort. Rooms will be avalable after 3pm but folks can start enjoying themselves the moment they arrive. Pack your beachwear in your carry on so that you can head right out and start having fun. You are free to use the pool, enjoy one of the many restaurants, relax on the beach and simply enjoy yourself. We'll enjoy dinner as a group this evening...the perfect chance for everyone to meet and introduce themselves. Casual Caribbean wear is appropriate at night...sundresses, skirts, business casual for the ladies perhaps with that gorgeous shawl or shrug that you made but have been looking for an excuse to wear. (jeans are fine during the day but sorry, not at night...men are required to wear long pants in the evenings to the restaurants.) After dinner we will gather together for our first session...
Book Signing and an Open Session of Questions & Answers
Sweater doesn't fit properly?
Can't get your crochet motif to lie flat?
This pattern makes absolutely no sense?
Need a new way to hold your yarn?
Whatever questions you have...Edie can help! Don't be shy, Edie's heard it! A fun night of brainstorming and sharing!
Homework...Bring your questions and any projects that may need some help. It would also be a great idea to have a notebook or journal with you this weekend to help your memory and to keep new ideas. Bring along any books that you would like Edie to sign too!

FRIDAY MARCH 23
Wake up...order room service or head down to breakfast. Which ever you decide. Just be ready for a day of stitching and learning!
Morning session - Math For Knitters And Crocheters
Mathphobics and the mathematically challenged are most welcome here!!! Where do designers come up with all their numbers? Edie will take the mystery out of the math needed to design or alter either a crochet or knit pattern. We'll be talking numbers for about two hours. Topics will include elementary pattern drafting, stitch multiples, figuring yarn amounts, rates of increases/decreases and foundation chains.
Homework...Bring your notebook, a calculator and that old #2 pencil as well as your sense of humor.

We'll all take a break for lunch and to gather our thoughts. Remember alcohol is all included for those who may need a pina colada or marguarita after math class!

Afternoon session - It's Not Over Till It's Finished
Edie will teach us how to make our projects look "hand crafted" and not "home made". You will learn steps you can take from the moment you pick up your needles and hooks that will make a big impact on the finished look of your garments. We'll talk about planning ahead, picking up stitches, blocking, sewing seams, weaving in ends and other helpful hints.
Homework...Several swatches of your choice, yarn and needles/hooks used for your swatches, a darning needle and yes, your trusty notebook.

Tonight dinner will be at your leisure....will it be seafood at the Oceana? Sushi and Asian cuisine overlooking the beach at the Himitsu restaurant? A bite on the terrace overlooking the skyline of Cancun at the informal Seaside Grill?... or a selection of international cuisine at the World Cafe Buffet?....ah decisions, decisions!

Evening fun Fashion Show & Tell and Stitcher's Choice
Here's your chance to show off your latest and greatest projects to the group....a chance to win top prize for your work. Later will be Stitcher's choice...Edie will be available to teach you anything you want to know...just imagine the possibilities....Intarsia tips, better buttonholes, furbelows & finishing fringes...Edie tells all!

Saturday March 24th
Today is our free day. No doubt many of us will be gathering together under the shade of a friendly palm or palapa to stitch the day away. Today is your day to do whatever you'd like to do. Some may want to schedule a treatment at the resorts fabulous spa (fee), others may want work out at the gym or take a yoga class or enjoy a sightseeing tour to the Mayan ruins (fee) or eat, drink, stitch and be merry. Today is the day to kick back and simply enjoy!

Sunday March 25th Adios!...unfortunately it's time to head back to reality. Your transportation will bring you back to Cancun airport.
